Whistling News!
This weeks feature picture of a new dynamic duo on the Whistling Scene - Siobhan and Joe who umpired the M8's games last weekend coached by Fozzy on his final weekend whistling at Timperley. Shout out to Sam Shaw who did the Otters with Fozzy too as he starts his umpiring journey. All the best to Fozzy at Deeside (see last weeks THC News).

Congratulations to Joe Williamson who passed his Level 1 Umpire assessment in September and is a great example of a young player whose picked up a whistle and developed through with the support of our umpire developers Nick Burnett and Fozzy. Siobhan did her Umpire course and Rules Test last season and as an unassessed L1 is well on the road to getting her assessment.

Umpiring a great way to get involved and be part of hockey and has no bounds as we've a standard and a game level for all, young, old, player, non player and everything in between. Our lead Umpire Developer Nick Burnett will guide you through the process and coach and support you and with radio's for all games it makes umpiring much more enjoyable working with your buddy! If you'd like to give umpiring a go or find out more contact Nick Burnett, Andrew Entwisle, Shelagh Everett, Anna Mawby or any of the committee or your captains and they'll point you in the right direction! There are lots of online resources too and you can even do the course on line too.

If you're an umpire and your whilst is collecting dust please get in touch and it would be great if all umpires in the club who haven't done any games yet this season could commit to do 1 or 2 before Christmas and we'll work with you to find dates / times that work for you in the game up to the Xmas break. We all enjoy our hockey because of our umpires so if your unassessed or assessed Level 1 please get in touch. We will also be focusing on making sure we share the umpiring out across senior teams so that all teams are contributing to the umpiring pool.

Umpire Co-ordinator - opportunity to get involved in #makinghockeyhappen !

We're looking for a new Umpire Co-ordinator to take on the scheduling of our Club Appointed Umpires each week - you don't even need to be an umpire to do this role (but would be brilliant if you were!). We've a small Umpiring (Officiating) working group who are looking at the wider development of officiating at THC (Nick Burnett, Andy Entwisle, Stu Nich and Holly Wragg) and working with the co-ordinator whose main role if to look forward for all fixtures needing THC umpires and work with our umpires to fill the gaps and support having a full set of umpires - and whistlers are umpiring the games at the level they feel comfortable. So if you love a spreadsheet, a bit of forward planning, working with and meeting people from across the club as part of a team this could be the ideal role for you. There's plenty of scope to grow the role too - but the initial priority if the appointments what we're moving to do on a 3 to 4 week rolling basis. To find out more get in touch with Andrew Entwisle, Shelagh Everett or any of the committee.
